Working With Multiple Agents

I wasn't sure which forum to post this question in, but here goes. How do you (or do you at all) work with multiple real estate agents? Do you tell them you are working with other agents? Do you tell them basically "whomever brings me the deal first wins the commission"?

I am a licensed real estate agent but I have a full-time job in a completely different industry. I got my license for educational purposes, to look good on my REI "resume", and to maybe save a bit on commissions. I have one agent I have been dealing with for a couple of years now, but some of the other agents I have been dealing with over the past year or so are really starting to take me seriously and bring me the deals. Should I tell my longer-relationship agent I am dealing with other agents? Since he was the first good agent I've kept a relationship going with, I haven't told him I am working with other agents as well, but if I need to list a property or need to run a deal through an agent, he is my first call.

Thoughts or suggestions? surprised I want to do the right thing, but sometimes it is difficult to figure out what that right thing is!

    Go out to your local supermarket and get the real-estate publications weekly. Then thru them and get the email addresses of all the local realtors in your
    area. You can now network with them by sending them a weekly email. This works great whether you are looking for
    "fixers" or have a house that you want to
    market.

    You could send an email out to your database of 1000 agents:
    "6% commission offerred on local house for sale." Give it a try. It has
    worked great for me!

    Once you get the network alike the one jeff sugested above, you tell them you like to work with agents who specialize in certain aria and certain type of properties and he or she is your guy for that one.

    However, if they seem to not like it then find the other one. While agents in general are not in short supply those days, good ones are.

    If another agent brings you the deal, then they deserve the commission, plain and simple.

    If the agent that you are currently working with is a true professional, he will understand and respect this.

    At some point, another agent may be bringing you more deals than your current "preferred" agent. At that point, you may want to change. In this business, things change, just the nature of it. Your attorney may become too big, and not devote enough time for you. Your mortgage broker may quit, or you may find a better offer that they can't match.

    You say you have your REA license... so you are working for an office. That means you can get on the MLS yourself and check it out. Then buy through yourself.... why even work with a realtor? If you have questions other realtors in the office are usually more than willing to help you out even if you are considered competition.
