Window Lifted Up, Will Not Stay Opened
I have many windows, which can lifted up but they will not stay in place,
These are the kind of windows in the early 80s. for house and apartment, the top part is fixed, the bottom panel can be lifted up, it should stay opened once lifted up, but it keeps coming down,
on the two sides, the is a hollow tube, with a twisted long piece of metal, does anybody has a method for adjusting the twirly twisted rod inside the hollow tube,
I believe that once the window is lifted up, something inside that hollow tube will keep the window in one place, to keep it function properly.
Tom, I am not sure about the ones you described, but If you know how to take the window out. Look for a toung or spike that sticks out from the edge of the window glass frame. There should be one on each side of the window frame that opens and can be removed. I think these toungs or spikes need to be inserted into a whole at the end of the rode that slides in and out of that tub.

I will go to the glass shop, all four windows need them.
must be a batch of bad rods.
my windows are manufactured about 1980, so there is no outside cleaning feature.
this is my first attempt, so it is confusing, how this spiral thingy work
By the way, it is called a ballast- just to make your conversation with the glass man a little easier.
