why not just put them up yourself? sorry for the upfront ansrew but your question is kind of silly. first off its probably not the best idea to have random "kids" doing this important task for you, unless they are very trust worthy. second obviously i would pay them after wards just to make sure they put the signs up and didnt just throw them out or toss them on the street. plus its so easy to do yourself.
The reason i posted this is because I' ve seen posts where investors mentioned using paperboys or kids, looking for an extra buck, to put out flyers or bandit signs. I see the logic in this. It would definitely save time and labor, expecially farming new areas.
Sorry if you thought my question was silly.........That really wasn' t intentional. I was just curious about how it works.
I use youngsters to do all of my doorhangers for my Contracting Co. I pay them on a per hour base in my targeted area. Saves me time and gives them alittle cash.
i do see your point with farming new areas, as it might be time consuming driving to new areas. but as far as your own area you might be better off doing it yourself. because of zoning and town problems i put them up on friday night and take them down sunday nights now, which dosnt really conflict with my business hours. as i am practically a kid myself, 20 years old. i probablly wouldnt trust anyone my age just because i see what alot of these kids are up too. im not saying every young kid is bad, but it would be hard finding a trustworthy youth. maybe one of your freinds kids thats brought up in a upper class home might work. just some insight.
to see if they are trust worthy, check parents, ask for report card, and check up on the paid work once a week, after a while once a month should be worth it. good luck.
Ryan,
This is not really the right arena to jump in and criticize a persons question just because it does not fit with what you think is correct. There are many trustworthy youth who would do a great job if they were shown what is needed, expected, and how to get the job done.
That said, I would pay them after the job is done, just like in the real world. I would also confer with their parents for sure. You will need to be very specific what you need them to do.
This is probably off the wall, but, my ideal would be to find a team of 2 (siblings?) who could actually earn a bonus for every call you get (tiny) and/or every deal you do. (larger) Make a deal w/their parents that half goes into a Roth, half into their pockets. You could employ them for years!
I agree with Mojo! This works very well for us. Also I will give a bonus if they draw in a certain # of calls this way here you are giving them some pride in what they are doing and having them compete within the group for the target #.

Consider a kid jumping out of the car to put up one of your signs and slips into traffic and gets hit. Even if they cause an accident acting on your behalf (i.e. an "agent", you may be held liable in some way (deeper pockets, I would think, too).
Just some negative thoughts to brighten your day...
ceinvests, i am not Ryan i think you have me confused with my partner because we are from the same town. i was trying to offer some constructive criticism rather then negative. yes i do have my own opinion on this subject as does everyone else. i did add that not all kids are bad and that he may even find ones that are trustworthy, but with my experience on this subject i would simply recomend doing it yourself. not trying to put anyone down by all means. i have been put down more often then not for being young. just trying to help
also in most towns it is illegal to use bandit signs so if some ones going to get in trouble why not take the risk yourself instead of getting some kid in trouble.[ Edited by ZinOrganization on Date 12/03/2004 ]

As one of those kids that did hang up sign, getting high schoolers are a good idea. two good tips-
Take them to the location, apartment, part of town ect. and hang a couple with them.
Pay little over min wage, then they will feel more pride in working with you- result is actual sign will be hung up.
I also recomend getting in touch with the parents, and use them as a reference, see if the kids are honest.
Kids need jobs like these, but truth is it's hard to trust them.
Thanks you guys.......Mojo that the problem i was having "Trust". How do i trust them? I like the idea of talking to their parents.
