What Happens If You Lost A Money Order

Is there a way to stop the money order and get another one? Is it just like cash and gone forever? One of my tenants pays me with a money order and I need to mail these to the bank. If I ever lost a money order, I'd like to know ahead of time what should be done.

Read the back of the money order and call the issueing company to ask question. One of my tenants pays w/m.o. and made a mistake on one a few mo. ago and there was all kinds of info. on the back.
    OR
do a google search and call and ask major issuers. My thinking is that you would want to keep a note of the m.o. serial number to track it. I'm only guessing!!

Most all money orders can have stop payments issued on them. The USPS postal money orders have a 45 or 90 day wait period before they will reissue the money (I can't remember which).
