'We Buy Ugly Houses' Signs
Sorry, I cannot search the archives. Not sure if this was already addressed. What is the deal with the 'We Buy Ugly Houses' billboards that I see everywhere. Is this a lead generation source for investors? Do you have to belong to the group/assosiation? How much do you pay for the leads? Just curious. Has anyone researched them? In my area they are Homevestors.
Homevestors is a large corporation that invests in houses. I believe now you can buy local francises. Once told they were in the $40-50K price range. Don't know exactly what you get for that though, and not sure if anything would be worth it since there are so many successful "small" investors out here.

I'd counter-attack with "We Buy Pretty Houses". There's more of them and there's less risk involved. Also, less profit but a quicker turnover which tends to balance things out..
hello- I am an owner of a palm beach franchise, let me know if you need some information. Nice meeting you! Happy New Year to all TCI posters!

If it's a franchise then does that mean that a indi investor can't use the PHRASE "We buy houses" or "We buy ugly houses?"
sorry i meant phrase not pharse.[ Edited by scr2001 on Date 01/22/2004 ]
What is a "Pharse"?
ANYONE can use the signs. You pay a printer to make them then you head for the neighborhoods and post them!!
Its a lead getter. You can also place 'rent to own' signs on your properties and check your messages for hundred of calls made by prospective tenant buyers.
I could be wrong, but I don't think anyone can trademark a phrase like "We buy ugly houses". I see tons of them around the Detroit area, so I'm assuming (I know, I know, don't assume anyting!) that it's ok.
