Do you need authorization from the home owner to perform a short sale with the lender? If so were could I get the form. surprised

    You'l need the homeowner/mortgagor's cooperation throughout the process..
    it's the homeowner/mortgagor who must request short sale consideration.

    You, as Purchaser, may assist in the application process, but the relief is granted to the homeowner/mortgagor.

    You need a written authorization from the homeowner in order to talk to the bank about the mortgage.

    Search this site for "Authorization to Release" or similar phrase. Basically this document will contain the homeowners name, prop address, soc sec #, mortgage lender & acct number. It will say something to the effect of "i give permission for you to release any and all information regarding my account to XXX". It must be signed by the homeowners,
