Volumes!

I am a begining investor and I am trying to to learn about stocks but I am stubbed on something. What does "Volume" mean? Can anyone give me a simple example on why it can be to your advantage and disadvandtage? What does it mean? What exactly to look for?

Yes I am a begginer and at once you were too!

I hope someone can help me out. cool grin

    Volume

The number of shares or contracts traded in a security or an entire market during a given period. Volume is normally considered on a daily basis, with a daily average being computed for longer periods.

um this website is to do with real estate.

However, to answer your question volume refers to how actively the stock is traded.

A better website for you might be http://www.fool.com. It is a great website with lots of useful article for beginners to learn all they need to about stocks.

    E4rr23,

You are right, we were all beginners at one time.

Do you have any idea what you are asking???

I’m sure that astronomers, philosophers and physicists including Aristotle, Socrates, Michelangelo, Stephen Falcon and Carl Sagan have been asking about the definition of “Volume” for Centuries and will continue for a while longer.

I’m going to let them all ponder for their definition and give you mine…AMOUNT.

Volume or amount of deals… Volume or amount of profit… Volume or amount of houses…

    You get the idea…

    I hope this helps
