Vinyl Siding Repair

My rental has a couple of holes in the vinyl siding (not big holes and siding is about 3 yrs old). Do I need to get the whole panel replaced? Or is there a kit I can purchase to patch it up? Will rain get in the holes causing moisture damage? Thanks!

As long as you are comfortable that the cause of the problem has been fixed, a patch can easily be done. I think you will find that replacing a panel can be jsut as easy and not very expensive if you can do it yourself. Just be sure you know what caused the problem before the fix. Good luck

just replace the panel. It is not hard if you have one of the tools that zips apart the connecting flange between each course of siding.

I agree with replacing the panel.
Since its only a few years old it would be easy to find a match.....you can often find scraps at a new construction site or even the supplier themselves may provide you a piece for free.

I know nothing of rehabbing, etc, but what about any type of warranty? If you say they are 3 years old, shouldn't they have some type of warranty?

Or, would it kinda be like insurance? You only use it when it is *absolutely* necessary?

If the holes were causes be thrown rocks, baseballs ect then the warrenty would not cover it. Try bringing the buick back to the showroom with the baseball dent in the side.

Vinyl siding is so easy to replace once you understand how it is held in place. The best place to see that is go to home depot or loews, a lot of times they will have cut away displays so that you can see exactly how this is done.

A 12 ft panel will cost you about $10.00
If you find someone doing side work they should only charge about $20.00 if you dont want to hassle with it.
