It could be that the lien has been paid down, but not reflected. Best to confirm the amount due remaining.
You need to get a title company to research the amount owed. But realize that the amount can grow if they continue to not make the payments.
You can payoff liens prior (sometimes seconds) to the closing where you payoff the first.
