Turning A Duplex Into 2 Single Familty Units?
I'm thinking about buying this duplex in a good neighborhood. I want to buy it and then sell both sides seperately. I was wondering if anyone knows what steps I must take to do it. Thank you guys in advance.
You should consult a real estate attorney on both this issue and the preparation of your purchase offer. If the current zoning of the property permits "twins" (2 single family semi-detached units, each sitting on its own lot), maybe this is possible. I don't know what the municipality will require to create two separate tax parcels (2-lot subdivision), time needed and expense. The other possible option may be to convert the duplex to condos.
