Transferring Trust Deed Into Family Trust
I have written a trust for a friend conveying the home to spouse, but I am not clear as to where the recording needs to be done. I am quite sure at the title company but would like to know if I need to record it with the county recorder as well, in California.
If it isn't recorded, it doesn't exist. The deed needs to be recorded, In AZ it's the county recorders office. I'm assuming the the transfer is being done either for estate planning purposes, or asset protection. Record the deed, so they can reap the benefits of their actions. Even if it's only peace of mind.

It is not completely clear to me from your post what forms you have drawn up to effectuate the transfer.
My suggestion to you therefor is to consult with either the Title Company or your RE Attorney, and have them review the forms and guide you as to what needs to be recorded and what not.

Naughty people, The Great State of California is different. Constructive notice needs to be given by recordation of the deed at the Hall of Records of the County in which you reside or transact.
Go to the Title Company and have the Senior Title Officer check your Deed to see if it is complete. They will probably arrange to have it recorded and will bill you for the recording fee. Upon recordation after a suitable time it will be mailed back to you. Be sure and tell the good people at the Title Company that you will be doing lots of Real Estate and you will use them always. Makes em get on your side. We seldom use attorny's unless we wish to kill a deal. Our big thing is Escrow Companies. Of late the title companies are coming in strong and opening up Escrow Departments. This is a very strange state. Lets see the Title Companies are opening up Escrow Departments. The Banks are selling securities and soon full fledged Real Estate Divisions. Wow whats left.?
