TOO MANY!!!
With all the different courses and books and programs that are out there how do you know wich one to spend your hard earned money on,,now of course there is the good ol TCI web site where I spend most of my home time,,but it would realy be nice for all of us newbies to get some insight on courses and books on REI,,don't get me wrong I'd spend some money to get good teaching,,,,,just don't know wich one to go with thats all......Thanks for your time ,,,,,,,,,,and advise,,,,,,,,,,,,,,MD 
This question has been asked many times on the forums, but with more direction.
"What's the best book on ___________"
(Fill in the blank: birddogging, LO, SS, Landlording, commercial property, etc)
As well as:
"What do you think of ____________ program."
Lots of advice exists. Ask a more specific question and we can be more helpful.
The general RE book that I consistantly recommend is "getting started in Real Estate Investing" as it is down to earth and explains the necessary concepts in an appropriate amount of detail.
The answer is "It Depends". Most of the courses focus on specific area of REI, so you need to decide which area fits your goals, and look at material from that area.
Additionally if you spend your time reading tbe boards here you are likely to find more useful information than you will find in any one course.

I agree with the above posts, however....I think John Locke and Ron LeGrand courses are excellent.
keep away from Robert Allen. I paid $8k for a "mentoring" program that nothing more than a general info course, that had value, but no where near worth $8k. Sure is a kick in the pants to get some deals done.

I personally like John Locke's Sub2 course here on TCI. He has a great system, great support for a moderate price. Trust me...its well worth it. I wouldn't recommend spending thousands and thousands of other dollars for some of those other courses I see out there! Be careful because some courses are more fluff than anything. The public library has some good resources to begin. You can also get some good deals for books and REI courses off of Ebay! Good Luck!!
Get John's Course on Subject to. I really like it. He honestly could be selling it for alot more. He gives e-mail support with his book and access to the super secret hush hush sub to site... For what it costs ($150) you can't go wrong.

For the money, it is a no brainer. Carlton Sheets, "No Money Down" has my vote. You get the forms to use in your business. You get audio, video, and written material that will teach you a lot of the steps leading up to your first purchase.
I work a full-time job and have a family. In my part-time I have purchased 873K worth of rental properties since I purchased my N-M-D course on 2/14/02. If I purchase no other properties. I will have positive cash flow of 26k a year for many years to come.
No, I am not a hot runner or anything like that. I manage all of my units, I have them all rented out. I have a good relationship with my clients/renters. I just followed the advise in the program.
Maybe I could have purchased and followed another program and did just as well. Who knows, But what ever you make your mind up to do, I say "just get out there and do something and trust yourself". You want do anything just sitting on the chouch.

My wife and I purchased the Carlton Sheets course as well.
After about 8 months -well put it this way... We'll be just about full-time in June, '04. What's more, we've paid off our car and truck; next are my student loans!
We have about eight rental units and a rehab or two.
Having finished Carlton's course, I can more fully understand what's written on this board, but anytime I didn't and posted a question, I've always got an answer.
I'm currently reading Find It, Buy It, Fix It, but I think next I'm going to look into that book that hibby suggested to you. I may even get John Locke's course on lease optioning as well.

How about Russ Whitney's RE training courses?
I attended the beginning 3-days class($99), advertising through Get Motivated seminar. The company said it normally costs $1500 if I go through the regular channel.
In that training class, they recommend us to take additional training courses which cost me from 6,000 - 25000. I was planning to do it but my credit card has the limited money in it. I want to get the right training.
Anyone has any suggestions or feedbacks about Russ's training courses.
