Title Search
Where do people learn how to do a title search? Do you have to become an employee of a title company or are there books or courses on how to do this? Any ideas on where to look and what it should cost would be greatly appreciated. I'm just starting to invest and think if I could do this myself it would help me decide which properties have potentioal. Thanks for your time!
You did not indicate what you are trying to accomplish. You can go to your county recorder's office (or whatever equivalent you have in OH) and get familiar with the records. Their staff may be of some help in giving you instructions. They are likely to have some data that is electronically accessible and older stuff on microfilm.
If you don' t have a lot to look up, you might have a realtor help you get a title search. One of my realtors has become a very close friend and is always willing to help.
If you are looking for Notices Of Default or Notices Of Sale, there may be a service you can subscribe to that will send you recordings within a few days of occurrence.
Thank You for your time and information. I will start with the court house. What would I search for on google or yahoo to find these services? I am just starting and everytime I learn something it seems I also uncover 2 or 3 new things I need to get a handle on. I guess if it was easy it wouldnt be profitable...lol.
Thanks Again
The people at the Recorder's Office (or Register of Deeds or whatever it is in your area) can likely tell you. The information for the reporting services comes from their office. They may even offer the service themselves although when I was subscribing, it was generated by an outside vendor.
Try First American's www.realquest.com They have a foreclosure search database
Try putting in the county and state and clerk of court or recorder
Like "palm beach county florida clerk of court" would lead you to links for the clerk of court for palm beach county florida and you can serach the clerks public records online
Great commercial.
Go ahead. Buy it. But be forewarned.... there is nothing new under the sun.
