Timeshares
Does anyone have any information on timeshares? Is there a good book to read?
I didn't know what forum to post this in so I am posting it here.
It looks to me like timeshares could make a lot of money, but maybe I am all wrong. Does anyone have any experience with them?

We have five.
Yes they can be good source of income if you have the time and a complete knowledge of how each one of them works. I personally would not recommend the business as a primary or regular source of income it is too dependant on the economy.
You must also learn about the individual companies and how thier system works but the basic principals are the same.
(FYI : Cendant (which is one of the largest and oldest) otherwise known as RCI is also owner of Fairfield resorts but each works differently exchanges are different from the "home" resort you own in and red time floating is the best to own if you are going to lease or resale.)
These are niche' y just as other real estate so you need to research the locations of ownership in location and company. I don't know of any good books we learned ours the old fashion way - trial and error! I am sure there are some books out there. This is the best I can do for you.
Most people whom have bad experiences with timeshares have never learn enough about their investment to use it wisely nor researched the investment before they purchased.
I would have to agree with Dreamin. Would probably start in some other area of real estate investing. Unless you have soem very good knowledge of exactly how timeshares work and how to make money off of them. Good Luck.
