Total amount. Rate is fixed at 25%. Starting bid is back taxes, interest, and fees. But TX is a hot growth state in most places so you may end up paying near market value.

I am looking to invest about 25k in Texas tax lien starting at the first of the year. So , If the starting bid on a lien is say $500, and I bid it up to say 25k then will I get 25% on the 25k or the $500?

The 25% is on the total amount of your bid,not just the amount of the taxes owed. That is what makes this such a strong and safe investment, provided you do your homework before you bid. When do they hold the auctions in your area? Let us know how the bidding goes and what you are able to pick up. Best of luck!
