hows everybody doing , i was wondering if anybody knew of a web site where i could look up information on a property such as who is the owner and how much their tax liens are or if they have any other outstanding mortgages to pay etc, i need a web site that will give me this access on Long Island New York
In a tax lien state (Oklahoma) you essentially make a loan to the county. If after a specified period of time (the redemption period) the loan is not repaid, you can seek to foreclose on the property (which means that you either end up with the property or force it to be sold at public auction).
In a tax deed state (Texas) you are bidding on the property itself. Some states have redemption periods (Texas has a 2-year period for homesteads and agricultural property and 180 days for all other) while others do not.
In neither case would you pay "full price" for the property (except for those cases where the FMV is less than the back taxes owed).
