Homestead Filled On A Property To Bid Or Not To Bid?

In California is the HOMESTEAD filled by the previous owners be cleared off at the time of the properties tax deed auction or will the purchaser of the tax deed be liable to pay the amount stated?



Pls. help any input will be greatly appreciated TYIA

    yeah be careful of those...here in florida they call it "land available for taxes" same thing as the struck off stuff that just didnt sell and if you research these properties they are usually priced more than they are worth and that is why no one bought them...I tried to buy some this way and after researching one after the other, they ALL were bad buys...

    Joey, as I understand it you do not touch the prop during redemption period, unless of course you feel generous, as you would lose all that you put in to it if it is redeemed.

    joey....try to get former owner to sign over a quit claim deed to you for a few hundred dollars....that way you avoid the redemption and you can start remodeling without fear...

    I had a simular situation as I bought a junky old MH and it needed to be demoed, it costs us 4k, and we were very weary to spend that money for fear of the former owner getting the prop back, so we approached him and offered him $500 and he signed it and we took a big sigh of relief...good luck.

    Your also due back any expenses for maintaining the property within the requirements of the law or deed restrictions.
