Buying Tax Liens In Montana If You Live In Canada
Hello,
Does anyone know if someone from Canada can buy tax liens in Montana? Do you need a license or something? Just starting out and unsure of if I can buy in Montana.

Hi quidam,
Someone gave me the same answer and you have just confirmed what he said. Thank - you, very much for your response.
Usually when a property is county owned it has to go to auction. Check and see if it already went to auction and did not sell. In that case you might be able to buy outright.
Some updates on this. Spoke to the county clerks office. The house has not gone to auction yet. Apparently in my county the county takes the deed and then they hold it for 3 years. It is set to go to auction next year. I asked for the previous owners info but they said they could not give me that info, confidential, i thought that info was public knowledge. They said that there is a note on the file that says the previsou owners are attempting to get the house back. i dont know accurate that is.
Anyway I did some if my own investigating and found that the previous owner passed away 2 years ago, right about the time the county took over the deed.
My question is, what do I do now. If I am able to track down the relatives, and find out who the executor is, do I then gt them to agree that if I pay off the back taxes, the county will deed property back to them and then they deed it to me. This is what the county told me is the process.
Is my understading correct of how to get this before it goes to auction.

I have no solution to offer here, but I can offer to clarify some terms for you.
The lender that accepted the property as collateral for the loan given is the mortgagee, the borrower is the mortgagor.
