Alabama Tax Deeds And Actual Possesion Question

I bought a property from an AL tax sale in 99. I received a tax deed and had it recorded. I also created a mailing address for this property and listed it with 911. I would like to build here but do not want to do so if I could loose my property and improvements. It is a vacant 20 acre tract of land with road access, public water and power. I have made some improvements and welcome any advise on how to legally own and live on my bargain bought land.

Spoke with an attorney today about the situation and was advised to wait two more years and deed to myself for a dollar. If anyone else is wondering that adds up to about 6 years for a clear title.

Alabama law requires you to hold the property for three years through adverse possession. That means you have to do something to make it obvious that you are using the land. Do it right away.
