Tax Sale Is CA

I scan your question and was wondering which Tax Sale you were referring to? Are you talking about the Alameda County tax sale? If so, I went last year. Alot of the guys from my investment class got together and met down there. The bid package was not that high though. I think it was like $500 in order to bid on the day of the auction. They were giving out bid packages prior to the sale date and I worked the leads before the sale. I actually got some pretty good deals from those leads and met alot of interesting people. Formed some lasting relatiionships. Mostly with people who had the cash to bid at the auction which was kinda nice because I added them to my buyer's list and am on the look out for what they are interested in. Let me know some more about this $1k deal and if it's been held in Sonoma? I'm not sure what county you are talking about. What I found that it was a frenzy! Alot of lookie lews and real estate sales people were there. Some were savy others - first timers! People were going crazy over the prices and found after they bought stuff that they just bought a strip of land that couldn't be built on because it was the house for the city's main water line or something crazy like that! So, do your due diligence prior to the sale and keep me posted.

The tax sale in Los Angeles Co. is coming up in March -- $1K is needed to qualify to bid (maybe that's the $1K you're seeking). I'm trying to gather up the courage to attend. I have the list of properties available, and there are quite a few in my area. How do I conduct the research so that I don't end up with "the city water line" or some other regrettable property feature? How do I find out whether there are liens on the property that my purchase will not remove?
If you have access to the title company find out who owns the property or go knock on their door and ask them if you can help solve their problem. Then go to the county recorder's office and do a search under their name. Research, my dear.
