Tax Liens In Louisiana
Hello,
I am interested in buying tax liens in Alexandria, La. I was told by an employee at the tax assessors office that the tax liens were a very easy way to lose your money. If the description on the property listed/sold did not match the title the sell was no good and the money was lost. Also he said something about mortgages on property. If someone is familiar with Louisiana law and can shed some light on this I would really appreciate it.

Hello to my neighbor up north. Thank you for the information. When does the tax sale take place in your parish? I do not want to purchase liens but I would be interested in going to the sale if it is prior to the one held down here (to have some idea what to expect). Ours is May 4th this is on a Wed.

How many tracts were available at the time of the sale?
How many bidders were there?
Was there much "bidding down"?
How long did the auction last...finished in one day?

aparantly i was incorrect my statement...i had always been told that they bid down the ownership interest, but from what i hear, it was just a lottery too.
A couple of questions, I apoligize for my ignorance, as I am just learning about tax liens. Do you have to be a resident of that state/county to participate. Also does anybody know if they have these auctions in minnesota.

Minnesota Tax forfeited land sales are conducted by each county, they are only available in open auctions. The public cannot be excluded from the auction.
