Contact the tax commissioner of each county and get on their lists. Check www.taxsale.com they sell tax lists also

Mettzger (sp?) and Dekalb counties manage the auctions from what I've seen on the net. Dekalb has a clear FAQ and states that they are once per month on the courthouse steps and call for a property list. My bro. lives near Duluth. Also, delinquent person must pay FULL bid amount. Is this the standard? I thought the typical auction required the delinquent person to pay only the taxes and interests and provided any excess bid amount to them if they chose not to pay off the bid. ?

I bid in Richland County SC in 2003 on 10 properties and 9 have been redeemed. Other than that, learning. This year wrote some software to aggregate the GIS info and the tax sale list to one nice spreadsheet for bidding but the progessional investors bid the amounts into the stratosphere so my family member who was there was smart enough not to bid. Either they know something about the future I do not or they stand to lose as they often paid OVER the county assesed value on the properties just for the tax bill !!! Richland county has all information avialable online; but, again, you have to work to aggregate it. Anyone want SW written to do that for another county? wink

Is bidding up to and over the assessed property value normal?

    Thanks,
