Tax Lien Certificate Purchase In New York

Where exactly can I purchase a tax lien in the Suffolk or Nassau Counties of New York State?

    I would recommend you visit/call/write the County Clerk in these counties and ask them if they sell tax liens or deeds, when the sales are held, and whether they do over the counter sales of liens after the sale. You'll get the best answer straight from the horse's mouth....

    Every state has different statutues related to the colleection of dellinquent property taxes. So, most of us do not know how it works in NY state.

    But, I know that there are tax sales in NY conducted by cities. Whether there are sales conducted by county governments, I don't know.

    Call the county and city tax collector or treasurer's offices and ask them. Also do a google search for it, putting in "new york" or "ny." There may be many hits, so you need to spend some time studying them. I found a private auction company that has a website. The company conducts the tax auctions for some of the government entities. This was perhaps three years ago and seem to recall they had an auction for Schnectady at that time.
