it depends entirely upon the type of tax debt... for example, they are more flexible with personal income taxes than with unpaid payroll taxes....

I see, this would be income in my case but, so you can actually SS the IRS then huh?

Does this take a long time to accomplish usually?

    Thanks for the reply!

I have found the IRS collection agents to be reasonable... and responsive to sound and supportive business proposals. I have also found them not to be consistent... much depends upon the individual caseworker/file manager, their workload, and their level of experience.

Our staff CPA dumbs it down, and is quite successful.

    Thanks SSPro,

any tips on how contact the IRS caseworker for my situation?

much like with preforeclosure short sales, it's not a cookie cutter process.

    each situation is unique.

just be armed with the facts before you make contact. you only get one chance to make a first impression.

you'll need a release from the taxpayer, and it takes awhile for the IRS to receive and record the release

    SSP,
If in this scenario, the taxpayer is the owner of the success ss buy a buyer(distress situation). So the poor taxpayer can't even keep his/her house, but the bank still give him a 1099. The taxpayer is so distress and can't afford to either hire a competent cpa to resolve his tax liability or pay the tax. Do you know any service could help the taxpayer in this situation? May be the buyer could help out some? Is this a ss candidate to irs?

I'm not following your question... but don't confuse an IRS lien against title to the property... vs. the issuance of a 1099 and future tax liability resulting from a ss sale.
