Simple Question About Notarized Signatures

I have read a bunch of scenarios about doing the deal "at the kitchen table" but I have never heard anyone mention bringing along a notary with them.

Where and when are all of the documents notarized?

Depends on what state you are in but general rule is that contracts don't have to be notarized. The only requirement for sales of real property or (in my state) leases over one year is that they be in writing. Usually the only document that needs to be notarized is a deed.
