Short Sell Process

Good morning ladies and gentlemen of this forum. I have been viewing this forum for a couple of weeks now and found some interesting things about real estate. I do have a question that I am currently facing and would like for someone to help me find out how the "short sell " process works in relation to the lendor's bank etc. I have made an offer that was accepted by the home owner and was sent to their lendor for approval for the short sell. After this my inspection of the home resulted in the lack of a foundation on a garage that was an addition to the house. My attorney has faxed this to the appropriate people and by our standard contract they have five business days to respond with an answer to our request for the money to repair the foundation. I had my attorney get an extension to my contract past the five days ( since it will be up today ) but I am wondering what is the process and how long does this process take. I have been waiting for them now approximately two weeks. Someone please respond to help me out. Thank you and please have a wonderful day and a better tomorrow...Hoyett
