Shorten Bedroom Door

I need to cut down a regular 80 inch door down to 75 inch.

it is regular hollow door,

What is the fast /best/easy method to have the wood at the two end? If I just cut the door, it will be hollow empty!!!

Thanks in advance.

Bargain said, ” and THAT IS the right way to do it.”

When I was responding a break-in at one of my units two years ago, I needed a custom cut hollow core to replace an interior damaged door. This was the door in knee-walled second floor bedroom of a cape that needed not only to be cut down but also angle cut on upper latch side to fit the jamb which had been angled to match the ceiling. Since I was showing property in town and didn’t have my truck and tools with me nor the time to go get them, I stuck the door in the trunk of my car and headed to Lowe’s. Bought the new door, they put it on the jig at the end of the dimensional lumber aisle and cut the sucker. Picked up a piece of filler from the scrap pile and white glued it in. An hour later I was back at the house with the new door and only needed a Phillips head screwdriver to complete the installation. Did have to go back and paint it though.
Seemed pretty fast/easy to me. Total cost was under $30.
There are usually more ways than one to get a job done right.
