Mortgage Foreclosure proceedings are very lucretive for Plaintiffs' attorney especially in judicial mortgage foreclosure states.
If the Defendant lays down and doesn't contest the foreclosure, it's routine. However, If a homeowner facing mortgage foreclosure decides to go kicking and scratching, and files bankruptcy several times, there is more work for the mortgagee's attorney.
I once had a situation such that the Homeowner was able to defend the foreclosure for 11 years... by filing bankruptcy upon bankruptcy, first himself, then his wife, then both, then himself... for 11 years.
The more obstacles, the more legal fees.
I've heard that fees can be anywhere between $3,500 and $13,500.
