Short Sale Courses
O.k. - I've read every post in the short sale forum and I need some advice on a short sale course - a course that has useful applicable information. I know about Dwan and Sharon's course and have read all the info on Jeff Kaller's website. Has anyone here purchased a short sale course and done a deal with the information that was included in the course? Or - has anyone here purchased one of the courses and not been able to do a deal yet because of something lacking in the course? If so - what do you think was lacking? There has to be someone out there who has spent the money on a short sale course. Before I drop anywhere from $500 to $1000 on a short sale course I wanted to get some feedback from people who have already spent that kind of money and find out straight from them if it was worth it. Let me hear both sides - pros and cons of any courses that you have purchased.
Let me know - I'm ready to spend some money to further my RE education and of course I don't want my money to be wasted. I know some of you have valuable advice out there - let me hear it !!! Please !!!

I bought off ebay jeff kaller / ron legrand short sales on (6) audio CDs and manual. I found the info VERY straight foward and have used it successfully. I have read several books but the procedures I use are from jeff kaller.
I like Dwan & Sharon's course. I also have Louis Brown's course, but think it is a little light with details. I don't have SSPro's course which can be bought here, but I have had numerous conversations with him, and found him to be experienced, knowledgeable, and willing to share information. The fact is that each author will bring their own unique experience and twist to doing short sales.
Thanks for the feedback gang. I ordered Jeff Kaller's course. I will get it by Tuesday the 14th of September and I will post my opinion of it when I'm done reading it.
It was nice to hear from some actual purchasers. That helps tremendously. I'm surprised though that out of all the members on this short sale forum that only two people have purchased a short sale course. C'mon people chime in!!! There are others besides me who would love to hear some feedback on some of the courses that have been purchased out there. There are so many to choose from - it's nice to hear which ones are fluff and which ones are useful. It's not too late to put your two cents in for others to read.

If a "course" imparts to the reader a foundation into the art of preforeclosure, short sale acquisition, and further illustrates how the reader can 'think outside the box' then it's done it's job... and maybe, just maybe, they have no further need to visit/participate on this or other boards.... because they are out in the trenches using what they've learned.
There is nothing new under the sun.

There is nothing that can substitute being in the trenches actually doing deals. You know the old addage - you have to learn how to crawl before you can walk etc. etc.. You have to know enough information about the basics so you can at least talk the talk before you can walk the walk. What do some people say??? - Fake it 'til you make it. Well you can't be clueless in your faking it - otherwise people won't give you the time of day. The loss mitigators aren't going to teach you short sale 101 on the phone either - They just don't have the time - although some are definitely more helpful than others.
Reading these boards and others has been extremely helpful. The knowledge from the people writing here is invaluable in general and especially for in the trenches situations and things they haven't run into before. I hope one of these days I can return the favor of answering questions to the "new" newbies - after I have the real life experience.
Short Sale Pro - It's amazing to me that you have time to do any short sales with all of the help and advice that you give on these boards. You are truly something special and the world should have more people like you around.

I work a 12 to 14 hour day... but if you are doing what you really enjoy... it ain't really work, is it?
I enjoy solving complex, real estate transaction problems. Most of the shorts I do now (started doing them25+ years ago) are those already underway owned by speculative investors who need help... or by Sellers who contact me for help selling short...
