I am trying to put a couple of my properties under section 8. What number do i need to call or who do I get in touch with to make this happen? I haven't found a solid lead yet. Thanks.
As far as I know you need to contact your local housing authority, or, whatever organization in your area that administers the HUD Voucher program. Tell them you are accepting vouchers, and they will schedule a time for a HUD Inspector to come out and view your property.
Assuming there are no issues with the inspection, they will list your property as a place where people with vouchers can possible live. Potential tenants can be put through whatever screening process you have for any other tenants (remember Fair Housing laws), but if you decide to rent to one with a voucher you will have to have the unit inspected by a HUD Inspector again before they will approve the person for move-in. The HUD people will always find something....so be prepared.
So far it seems fairly simple, just contact your local housing authority and ask them the process. Here they list your house right away and will inspect once you find a tenant. Good Luck!
I see that you are having a hard time getting answers. You also posted in the residential section of this site to no avail.
I'll get you the information. A couple of my friends has property that are under section 8. Give me a few and I'll be back with the info.
Thanks for noticing lol. I have exhausted every way I can think of that includes contacting www.HUD.gov they just sent me 2 links that contain laws.
