Section 8

Hello,
Through this website, I have become aware of Section 8. I understand that as a landlord this can be used to guarantee that you will receive your rent money every month. However, what I do not know is which Government agency to contact to get info. Is it HUD?

Thanks,
Brad

Brad, yes it is hud. Contact any building mgt. company or landlord acceoting section 8 in your are, they can tell you the place to call in your area. Hud will guarantee the portion of the rent they approve their contract for. They used to fully cover any damages created by the tenants, though it is my understanding they no longer do, as it was to costly for them. They will have the property inspected and give you a list of what they want corrected, and generally they'll always find something, thatcis their job
;-} and they do that well. Also their checks are on time.

    Good luck

All my section 8 involvement is done through my municipality.

Whom do you deal with exactly cygnus? A particular agency?

    Nice to meet you guitarbrad,

Let me roll in my 2 cents also Brad. The next time you need similar type of info use http://www,Google.com where you would (in this case) type "guitarbrad's looking for info on section 8" ... No, I am not serious but this is what you could really do:

    "Roanoke, VA + section8"

At the long list of results sorted by relevancy, you could've found the same "WOW" info you got above.
And one more thing, if you remodel your building to the point that is "by the book", you do not have to worry about section 8 inspection. My worry in dealing with them is that his month they are late paying rent and based of the new federal budget recalculation, "they" made a trillion dollars mistake so by the time we are done fighting entire middle east, we might be borrowing money form Tanzania or Peru and I do not think that they'll approve my contract with my tenants just because the rent is due.
