Removing Tenants For Owner Occupancy, NJ

I recently purchased my first property, a duplex. I plan to move into one unit. I had given the tenants the required 60 days notice to vacate the property due to my plan to occupy. The tenants have been anything but cooperative. They do not return my phone calls, and only paid rent 10 days later after my lawyer called them and told them they have 12 hours till the eviction process will start. I understand an eviction in NJ takes about 6 weeks, but my question is, that since I gave them the proper 60 day notice, which was an agreement sent certified mail which they signed, will I have to go through the 6 week eviction process if they do not leave by the 29th? The attorney I am using is the former owner and also a private lender so I would not like to burn bridges with him, which is why I am not using another lawyer. I believe him to be honest, but want to make sure he is giving me proper information, and not playing both sides of the fence. Thanks for any and all help.

It has been awhile since you posted, so you probably already have the answer. It is my understanding taht if they are obnoxious and are not out after you gave them plenty of notice, you would have to start eviction process. It is pretty screwy, but that's how the law goes. :-(
