Remove Popcorn Texture
Ran into a local rehabber who had removed the popcorn ceiling. Thei cielings looked as if it all new drywall was hung. He says he sprayed someone up there and 1/2 hour later the popcorn falls off the cieling. No scraping. Has anyone heard of this?
I think the rehabber is pulling your leg. Scraping IS required.

The only method I know of that doesn’t require you to scrap is when you hire someone else to...
I never scrap the ceilings and somehow that acoustic crap just falls off.
Easier on the hands too.. Fewer blisters…You get a callus from writing checks but their not as bad as blisters…

Depending on how old your property is- your popcorn may have asbestos in it.
We get calls to remove popcorn-before we will remove ceiling has to be tested in at least 3 areas of a 1000 sf area, for the amount of $300. Then if a positive test, many other headaches and expenses will commence. Just FYI

Write your offers with contingencies for an out, submitt the offer with $1000 earnest money, you will have probably 10 days to pull out of the deal if your contingencies are not met.
Also write into contract something similar to:
"all monies on deposit or in escrow paid by, or on behalf of, buyer to be returned to buyer if transaction is not completed for any reason"
Similar but less challenging:
"deposits and escrow to be returned to buyer if sale is not completed". A bit less precise but good.
