Well, IBuyHouses has released his product. Personally I like the man, he has communicated with me and been very helpful. As he has been to everyone else with marketing questions. But REIuniverse is a duplicate of this site, with all of the suggestions for improvements added in.
I think it is going to be stiff competition. Joel would be wise to not allow the term REIuniverse to be mentioned on the site, from a business perspective. From a personal one, I plan on visiting.

Since you are looking for knowledge, lets start on how to become an effective Moderator.
When you let someone break the rules as you have been doing, with the excuse "since you are new, you will let it go" what you are doing is saying to any new person who comes on board and reads this, that is OK to break the rules because you are new.
Now you have put an extra burden on your fellow Moderators as you did not pay attention to the Forum Rules thus lettting new posters feel it is OK to break them.
Seems you are a Newbie yourself not only to investing but also new to anykind of Managerial skills. So instead of feeling you have to answer every post agreeing with someone else who posts, you should start in the beginners forum, and lets say work your way up the ladder.

While the website needs to be open and available to others, we do need to be able to moderate the forums effectively.

happened to me again last week...i emailed Joel and it seems to have been fixed now.

If this happens, please email me, not post it here in the Moderators Forum.
We give out the access to the moderators 3 months at a time. This keeps the moderators in touch with us simply to say "Hi I am here and am still moderating."
