Prosecutor sale questions
I'm looking into purchasing an abandoned property (a duplex) from the prosecutor's property auction. The walk-through inspection is Friday and I will be there. What sorts of things should I look for when I inspect the property? The purchase agreement gives the winning bidder 14 days for due diligence inspections, but I want to be fairly sure that it's a good deal before I get that far.
Is the mortgage (if there was one) usually wiped out when property is taken by the prosecutor's office? The info I have received states that there is about $1900 in taxes owed, $0 water and $0 mortgage but I haven't checked yet to make sure that's accurate.
Is there anything else I should be careful of when buying property from the prosecutor's office?
Thanks.
Bethanny
