New Roof For Buy And Hold Property.
I just bought a home in CA, and hate the look of composition shingles. I've been trying to figure out if there is something more affordable, longer lasting and preferably more aesthetically pleasing roof materials out there. The house has a slightly pitched roof in a classic 1940s classic california bungalow style. This is an investment property I plan on holding onto for 30+ years and it's in a very high end neighborhood. Do I have to just suck it up and go with composition. Anyone got a line on some better options out there? Thanks!
Personally I like the look of 26ga standing seam color metal roofs. They can last a lifetime. You can get simulated tile and other designs as well. :-o
yeah, I vote for metal roofs as well. They are more expensive than the composition shingles though.
But most of that added expense can be avoided in new construction by the fact that metal roofs do not need sheeting underneath them. Eliminating the cost of sheeting makes the metal roof actually cheaper. Which is why it is routinely used in Barns and other buildings where price is critical.
