Mud Jacking

Can anybody tell me ballpark what this costs? I have a house under contract and the back addition is sinking and needs to be mud jacked. How much to add to the budget?

Does it need to be mud jacked, or lifted??? mud jacking under concrete floors replaces what is eroding away and can mean a drainage problem. if the structure is falling and is on a concrete wall, that could indicate poor soil quality. is the house built on pilings? I recently went through this problem @ work
    more info??

    Not apples to apples but...

I had an estimate of $500 to mud jack (raise) two 5' wide concrete entry steps. I decided just to tear the steps out, pour new sidewalks and replace the steps with pre-cast ones.

You can find comps on www.realtor.com. That is typically where I find my comps if I am not working with a realtor. It is kept fairly up to date. Some people use the MLX, but you need to get your real estate license for access. You can also look in the local paper for current listings. You will never get an exact number. You have to get an idea of what your property is worth compared to other properties in your area. Then you make adjustments for things like upgrades or major repairs.

I got a bunch of carpenter ant trap/poison things at home depot and there all gone now.

hey mark, do you know if that powder killed them instantly or was it bait that they took back to their nest to kill them later (along with the whole colony)?[ Edited by local_host on Date 09/26/2005 ]

We used the bait traps that the ants carry back to their nest. Worked great for the carpenter and the smaller ants and worked quickly.

FYI, the roach bait also worked like a charm.
Negative: Took about 4-6weeks with the roaches, though. Something about their life cycles.
Positive: Population of roaches steady decreased after the first application. Stayed gone to date.

Keep in mind. Carpenter ants like dark, moist areas. You could also have a moisture problem.
