Identify Lead Paint In A House Built In 1966

This is house built in 1966 and according to what i read all houses built before 1978 possibly contains Lead Paint. Is it necessary to get it checked? Who can inspect the paint inside the house? i live in pittsburgh pa

Thank you

It will almost certianly contain lead paint. Why do you want it checked? If you need to have it checked, contact your state...they will have a list of people authorized to do a lead test...it will cost $500-$1200. If you want to ensure that it is safe for your family...just make sure you do not spot paint dust or flaking paint.

just use a lead based paint addendum when you rent it or sell it

The key to making lead based paint safe is to paint it with a good coat of paint.

If you're going to rent it out, then include a lead paint warning with your lease and you should be covered.

If you're gonna live in the house, just make sure it's ALL covered with at least one good coat of paint.

    thank you for the replies.

I personally don't care about the lead paint. I am just afraid it is going to be a problem when i sell the house.

    thank you
