How Do I Remove "pet Odor" From The Carpet?

The male dog pissed everywhere on the carpet. I used the Bissel cleaner solution w/ "pet odor remover", but the spots stil smell like urine. What's a good deodizer or solution to remove the urine smell?

Try "Natures Miracle" sold at most pet stores and you can buy it by the gallon. When my dog has an accident (and she has had many) I soak the spot with 100% natures miracle and wet vac it out... be generous in your application.

If the dog went everywhere and you don't know exactly where the spots are, go rent a rug doctor shampooer at your local store and mix a 50/50 solution of natures miracle and water.

It is made of some sort of enzyme and it's the only thing I've ever found that really eliminates that urine smell.

    Cat urine is the worst!

I bought a house at auction that had a cat urine problem. I removed every stitch of carpeting and treated the hardwood underneath with an enzyme product and then sealed it with shellac. IMO the odor was gone. None the less I was not able to sell the house. I then switched gears and it has become a good rental for me. That should have been my strategy from the start.

Would it be worth your while to replace the carpets altogether? I'll tell you waht - there is not much more than new carpets to making a home or apartment look new...

    Good Luck!

i have used nature's miracle as well in the past.

I also found that pure rubbing alcohol works very well. It will get out any stains and also cure odors that are fairly recent. This is alot cheaper than nature's miracle also.

Not sure if it wil work on a month old stain though.

At the time I was experimenting with the idea of trying to flip a property in "ready to decorate condition". The theory being that the new buyer could choose their own carpet, paint colors, etc. It didn't work. In hindsight I should have treated and sealed the soaked through areas and re-carpeted.

Replace it. I don't care what you do if it is cat urine it will not come out totally. Call and ask any carpet cleaning company in the ara if they gurantee cat odors out of carpet and I bet they say no. Plus if the new resident has a cat I gurantee that the cat will pee in the same places.
