Can You Paint Vinyl Siding...?
I recently puchased a rehab project with vinyl siding and while the owner was doing some roof work spilled roofing tar on the siding. It is quite noticable and effects an area about 6 feet by 6 feet. The rest of the house is clean just needs a good powerwash. Anyway, has anyone tried painting vinyl siding? How did it turn out. Is there a special type of paint that I need to get. The house is in a marginal area and will retail for 125K (where the median is over 275K). I was thinking the tar blemishes might just ride but I need a plan B.
Yes. Sherwin Williams sells a product made for painting vinyl. The link to the brochure is below:

Is it possible to just replace the siding? It might be possible to find a close match. If you cannot find a close match, you could steal siding from a small area (maybe a bump-out or from a wall of an addition) and use that to repair with. Then side that area with siding that is close. It is harder to tell different siding types if they are not side by side or divided up with a trim/corner piece. Vinyl is fairly easy to do.
