Rehabbing And Beyond....

I am thinking of expanding into the roofing business and was wondering if any other rehabbers have tried this and what success they have had. I have by far the cheapest labor in Newark, NJ and I have an experienced estimator that will work with me for 10percent of all sales. I have the money for the very expensive insurance premiums.

I guess my question is how lucrative is the business? I hear great things from my estimator but I want other opinions..

    Thanks for the reply.

Well he actually is a stone cold closer and apparently the business is very good.

I plan on advertising heavily and Id be happy with 1 or two jobs a month.

What else can you tell me about the business. I am assuming a 30% margin for myself...

Are there some advertising tips anyone can recommend aside from the usual ones like yellow pages and service magic?

Will you insure the trucks with the company name on them?

I think when one of your roofers hits a baby stroller in a truck with your sign on it, the name on the vehicle registration will become moot in court.
I think you have some liability exposure even without your name on the truck.

You might be amazed how fast that $3535 gets whittled down, once you total up all of your overhead, and losing a few days a month for weather, sickness, etc.

Guys who do a few jobs well very often seem to get undependable once you depend on them day to day.
