Real Estate Investment Club
I am attending my first club meeting tonight.
Got cold feet after a deal I was interested in feel thru. Trying to get back on that "horse". What I should expect at this meeting and how do I go about marketing myself.
Keep in mind, my feet are "very cold" right now.
Thanks!!!!!
Just introduce yourself and keep your ears open.
always listen more than you talk.
Most REI clubs are chock full of newbies.
Most newbies have that "deer in the headlight" look. You usually will see different types of name tags. The one that they fill out for you will be for "guest".
Therefore, introduce yourself to individuals with a different tag/badge. These are the members who may be able to help you. Stick your hand out and introduce yourself. If your feet are cold then wear wool socks-they're there to help and share.
There is nothing to be nervous about, just be yourself. It's not like the clubs are filled with a ton of pros who will look down upon you. In fact you will be in the majority as a newbie. The only problem you will have is competing for the ear of the experienced with all the other newbies.
Meet people, take names, listen and take notes. Nothing to it.

You went to Wesley's meeting right? well, most of the time we don't wear name tags here in NY... <IMG SRC="images/forum/smilies/icon_wink.gif">
Here's my key, take it slow. Hang out the whole time after the speaker, until the lights flash. The worst time to try and introduce yourself is right after the speaker, because that's when everyone's rushing. Take a break, check your phone, go the bathroom, get some coffee, and just sit on the wall watching everyone.
Other Newbies are great to help build your confidence cuz they're in the same boat as you are. Some day you could be experienced partners together!
You're probably already doing just fine! It's a great REIA, and everyone is very friendly and positive. It certainly can be quite a circus too! <IMG SRC="images/forum/smilies/icon_lol.gif">

REI Club is an excellent way to market properties too! I was at a meeting a few months ago and a local Realtor cam in with a list of REO's he had just gotten and about 30 people swarmed him to get the lists he had. It was wild, but I knew then I was in the right place. The meetings alwasy draw 50 to 100 investor/landlords. I was nervous my first meeting to, but quickly found that I wasn't the only one who didn't know a lot. Almost everyone there was asking questions just like I see here and I felt much better. Hope this helps.
