RE License

I'm contemplating on getting my real estate in the very near future...However, I do not plan on hanging my license up with a broker just yet.
Could I still have access to the MLS this way?
Thanks in advance for all replies!

I highly doubt it. Under Iowa law a licensed agent must work under a licensed broker and only brokers have access to the MLS. Agents get access through a broker only.

Thanks myfrogger. I'll just use the internet for now until I decide whether or not getting my RE license will be a feasible thing for me.

If a R/E salesperson's license isn't hanging on a broker's wall, it's tucked away in your State's Department of Insurance and Banking.... or some such bureau.

To hang, or not to hang. The annual costs to have a license hang, plus monthly Realtor fees and MLS fees are well worth it if you use the opportunity.

    Like anything else.

I am an agent in Wahington DC (so check the rules in yor state)and a way for you to get the MLS is, if you know an agent well or are friends with one you can sign up as there personal assistant without getting a RE licence and you will have your own account number under them. This requires that they get the application signed by there broker, but that should not be a problem. If they are a broker already you will really be in good shape. I know this because my i myself have switched my status from agent to personal assistant under another agent because it is alot cheaper.................Good Luck!
