RE LIcense Required For Referral Fee

I am wondering if you must be a licensed California Real Estate agent in order to solicit investors in CA to purchase homes in Texas. I would be working with a Texas Real Estate Agent and essentially doing the marketing in CA for her.

Thanks!

More that even a licensed California Real Estate agent.

I have been told that "soliciting" investors is illegals under state and federal law. You need to have an exemption under Reg D.

    Your violating securities laws.

Thanks for the response. So you are saying that it is against the law to hold a seminar or place an advertisement looking for investors interested in turnkey homes (with renters) in another state?

    HI,

I did some investigation on the Reg D that you mentioned. I would not be asking these investors to give me money to purchase the homes. I would be matching up an interested investor with a real estate agent in Texas. I would do this "matching" through offering a seminar, etc.

It just seems odd that this is illegal...
