Buy a $10 bucket of tar and a disposeable putty knife and get up there and fix it.

    Steve,
From what I understand and other contractors have told me, skylights are notorious leakers. You have an unusually large snowstorm, and the recipe is there for leaks. Heavy rain is one thing, but thawing snow is the worst. Agree with the roof tar idea, but call a reputable roofer after.

The above posters are correct, in that sky lights are a problem waiting to happen. Particularly in climates where temperature variances occur. However, I would not go out and buy the 10 gallon bucket of tar and get to fixin as one above has suggested.

Expansion and contraction, through temperature variances, will doom conventional tar applications in a short period of time. Since what ever the tar bonds itself to will most likely expand and contract at a different ration than the tar. The seal will quickly breakdown. There are products on the market which will allow for this type of correction. But it has been awhile since I needed to stay abreast of what is on the market. A few years ago, there was a wonderful product on the market called "Kodiak High performance roof sealant". I used it and it was truly wonderful for these types of situations. However, they subsequently sold out to another company and they discontinued making this particular product, which was a shame.
What you need to do is some research into these products and use one that best qualifies under your particular set of circumstances. But remember this, unless the skylights were originally installed and FLASHED correctly, this will always be a problem.
