I have a TomTom and it has saved me much time. They are not foolproof though and can be wrong occaisionally. New developments would not likely be on the GPS map either. Unfortunately I do not have the newer maps that can be edited. If you buy a TomTom make sure that you get maps that you can edit (then you can add the new development to the map when you find it), otherwise your GPS, like your map book will be outdated and you will have to buy new maps.
