Fax Machine Questions :)

Just starting up the ol LLC and I'm going to buy a fax machine. My question is....can a fax machine be equipped with a answering machine, so if someone calls my fax number they get an answeing machine...and if a person tries to send a fax...I get a fax? I've never had a fax machine in my life smile Thanks

You can set most up where it rings a certain way for a fax and differently for a regular call.

Mine is hooked up on the same line as my phone and answering machine, but set so that it automatically picks up fax tones if I'm supposed to be receiving a fax. I had to read the instructions and learn how to set it up to do this, because there are different settings. For example, it can be set up to assume that every call is a fax, or set on manual, where you have to push a button in order to receive the fax. If you choose the setting that automatically picks up tones, It usually picks up on the second ring, although that may also be something you have to set.

Mine is a Brother multi-function machine.

    Hope this helps,
    Candace

    Hey,

I am not sure what you are trying to do, but your computer can function as an answering machine and a fax. The software costs less than $50.

You may also want to check with your local telephone company about have a separate number for your fax machine but still on the same line..........the additional charge was less than $5.00 per month.

My partner recently bought a fax, scanner, answering maching interface all in one........very nice.

I got new fax machine just recently, and it's now my only desk phone and on my only hard line.

PC is on DSL line, so no longer needs phone access.

And most (all?) new fax machines now allow you to plug in your answering machine, and the fax/phone will automatically determine whether the call is phone or fax and will turn itself on if it's an incomine fax.

Now, if I could only teach it to make the coffee & cut the grass!

I just bought a fax with answering machine.

Is anyone using this for a part time real estate business? I have concerns about people getting the answering machine all the time since I won't be home on days i work to answer it. Do you think this will reflect poorly on my business to have i'd say about 80% of my calls answered by a machine?
