Congradulations On Nbr 6, Lance

I must admit I have never watched the Tour De France in my life.....not until this year.

While visiting my (european) father in-law recently and listening to him complain about how Lance is "ruining" it for everyone, I decided to watch the race this year.

It was really awesome to watch a guy that came back from cancer to basically slaughter his competition.....for 6 years in a row. A feat that has never been done in the 110 years of the race. It took an young man from Texas to show the world what desire and commitment can bring.

A reporter asked what the secret to his success was.........to which he replied,
alot of training and surrounding himself with people that are as dedicated as he is.

He was humble about his success but yet confident in his abilities. If that aint American then I dont know what is.

My father in-law and I had a "civil" disagreement about the event.

My in-laws like to complain that Americans are the most arrogant people on the face of the earth. They being from french descent.........aint that the pot calling the kettle black.

My take is that if the other riders are to lazy to train throughout the whole year and do not take it as serious as Lance....then they don't deserve to be there in the first place.......yet alone win.

I cant stand a complainer.......yes, things dont always go the way we want.........but what seperates the winners from the losers are the ones that are willing to do something about it.

My father in-law had spent 20 years trying to getting back to America.

This is a man that went through the holocoaust, saw his dad taken away by the Nazi's, his sister and mother violated and his country and all of Europe left in shambles.

Sadly, like most europeans and the rest of the world as well.......he soon forgot who saved their butts.....many times over.

So many europeans as other as well do not realize or that freedom is born from within ones heart.

The deep corners of the heart that tells you that you can better yourself if given the opportunity and the desire to try.
If the opportunity isn't there then you make it happen.....even if it means spilling your own blood in the process.

Unfortunately it took about 5 - 7 years of my father in-law listening to a certain left leaning political party that believes that competition is bad, taxes are good, social programs work, military and cops are a necessary evil, you are not responsible for your actions, its never your fault and the government has the cure for everything that ails you.....as long there are plenty of entreprenuers willing to fork over half of their earnings.

Seems like the only good thing that came from my father in-law was his daughter. She lived in Europe most of her life, stayed in the far east for 2 years and when she got here to the States she saw that despite the problems (mostly a result of a left wing party) we have here.........we are still the greatest country that this world has ever known.

Way to go Lance.........you showed the rest of the world what desire and commitment can and will do.

I also watched this week on OLN. Just happened to be flipping through the boob tube when I stumbled upon it last week.

I was hooked, and was really excited to see Lance get his 6th win.

I really like the solo race they did last Thursday or Friday. They raced against themselves. Never saw that before. Pretty cool.

    Hey,

I have stood by the side of the road and watched the Tour de France twice. I have also watched the time trials (the solo racing).

You get there (the side of the road) two to three hours before the race and try to get a good spot. Dozens and dozens of sponsors cars and vans pass you, handing out free stuff. You can tell the racers are about to pass you when you see the helicopters. The front riders pass you and then the rest of the riders pass you in one huge pack. It takes seconds. Then the support cars pass you. And that is it.

The Time Trials are interesting, because two police motorcycles are with each rider.

An amazing accomplishment from an amazing man. And still he is humble and eager to give others credit. A true sportsman. Cycling is lucky to have him as a champion of their sport.

take 2 weeks and read as many of the posts in these forums as you can.

Take the info you find and see what part of real estate investing you like the most .

    Then get started.

Then once you find out what aspect of REI you want to do, go to the bookstore or library and read the books that deal with the subject.

    Good luck
