Question re mortgages

Just getting started in this and wondering if it's important to find out if there is a mortgage on the property for which I want to purchase a tax lien cert? And how would I find that info, other than a title search? Online would be best, of course. The properties I'm interested in are in the state of Florida. Another question: If the owner is in arrears for 3+ years already on taxes, can I force an auction immediately after the TLC purchase? These TLC's have already been sold to the county. Thanks for any help!

Not sure about the TLC question. But I have not been able to find any other way to find out if there is a mort. on a property unless you do a title search. Especially on the internet. Sorry

i know some of the counties are on-line
Like pinellas where I live. so you can go to the property appraisers on line and find out when the property has been sold the last couple of times and find out what book and pages they are recorded on..i am not sure if they record refies though

also go the www.searchsystems.net to see if you can locate the county you are in
