Proposed Annexation and High Density Re-zoning of Lewiston Road Neighborhood

24 acres of property has been purchased by a local developer just north of White Oak Farm (horses and barn) on Lewiston Road. This land is currently in the county and zoned for 1 home/acre. The developer is requesting annexation and rezoning in order to build 76 homes on one cul de sac with an average lot size of 0.16 of an acre. For context, the cul de sac parallel and adjacent to this property has 13 homes. The local residents of this area are opposing rezoning at this density level. We want a reasonable plan that is in keeping with the character and density of the neighborhoods. As we view the Cardinal residents as our neighbors, we want to make you aware of what is happening and ask for the support of anyone interested. We are having a meeting next Monday, 2/12 at 7:00PM (location TBD) prior to the City''s Planning and Zoning Commission meeting on Monday, 2/19 at 5:30PM. We need as many people as possible to show up in support of preserving our neighborhoods. Anyone interested can respond here or email to LewistonAnnexation@gmail.com for more information. Thank you.

    How did the meeting go?

    Hi Joel,
Thanks for checking in. Planning and Zoning recommended to go ahead with the annexation and rezoning. It now goes to City Council on March 19. We are adjusting our strategy now that we have heard their case and can more specifically argue our case. We were all disappointed with the way the Commission handled the case with a great deal of bias in favor of the developer.
    All the best,
    Diane
